In the tiny hamlet on the outskirts of western Mt. Mainalo, Yiannis and Evangelia cook excellent food, using local products, make their own feta cheese and tsipouro (a kind of grape distillate), “chilopites” (noodle-shaped pasta) with burnt butter and myzithra cheese, ewe wrapped in oil paper, mint-flavoured goat soup and wild boar in the saucepan with brandy. In addition, Yiannis is the best clarinet player in the region.
