The best restaurant in Trikala is a meat lovers’ paradise. The recent renovation has highlighted the rustic high-ceilinged room of the old inn that stands on the same spot since 1918. The must-try dishes, however, are still the same: calf’s head roasted in the wood-burning oven; fried or barbecued sweetbreads; livers flambe in a perfect cognac sauce; sausages made to order by the restaurant’s butcher. Those of you who prefer more classic dishes will find that the extensive list also includes options such as oven-roasted juicy pork shanks and grilled meats.
