This unfussy tavern with the fireplace and the spacious covered veranda is a bulwark of traditional Cretan cuisine. Onisimos Saridakis and his wife, Eleni Vardaki, create local dishes based on premium ingredients (carefully selected meat from Mt. Asterousia, their own cheeses, and vegetables), which they handle with a dedication to tradition. On winter Sundays, when the wood-fired oven starts burning to roast the “antikrysto” lamb, the place is filled with people.
